Matís has been researching the stock structure of Icelandic salmon stocks for years in collaboration with the Marine Research Institute. Icelandic salmon is divided into many genetically different species that can be identified by specific genetic markers. These genetic analyzes are useful in fish farming and in tracing the origin of salmon caught in the sea as by-catch.
