Matís conducts microbiological research on food, drinking water, medicines, feed and environmental samples, providing specialized, high-quality and fast service and advice to public bodies, food companies, pharmaceutical companies, slaughterhouses and the private sector.

In addition to microbiological measurements that determine life expectancy using many different methods, Matís' laboratory serves customers with measurements that:

  • Give evidence of hygiene
  • Freshness
  • Shelf life
  • Efficacy of efficient microbial growth
  • Indicate the safety of the product
  • Examine pathogenic microorganisms

Frequently asked questions about drinking water research

Matís is accredited by Swedac, the Swedish accreditation body, for 30 microbial methods for measuring food, water, feed, environmental samples and medicines.

From the New York State Department of Health, Matís / Reykjavík is accredited for 2 methods for measuring bottled water.
