Phosphorus (P) is one of the essential macronutrients for plant metabolism Phosphorus in the soil is generally inaccessible for plants due to bond formation with other ions present in soil (inorganic and organic forms) which makes it insoluble
The source of phosphorus, reserves of phosphate rocks, is non-renewable and will be depleted sooner or later.
Fish manure contains relatively high amount of phosphorus. However, the same seems to apply to fish manure as soil, the phosphate is insoluble and therefore inaccessible. The objective of this project is to use phosphorus solubilizing microbes to treat fish manure to improve its value as phosphorus source in fertilizers.
