The aim of the Algae Workshop project was to offer a professional training course in algae cultivation and biotechnology in Europe.

A wide range of stakeholders, students, researchers starting careers, engineers and entrepreneurs were introduced to the state of knowledge in research and development as well as business opportunities within the algae industry.

Despite still being new to the needle, the algae industry is growing rapidly both in Iceland and around the world.

New products, methods and opportunities are emerging and there is a need for educated and trained staff and entrepreneurs to take full advantage of the potential of the industry.

The workshop was previously held in Iceland, the UK and Germany by the same partners in 2018 and 2019, but was tailored for teleconferencing for 2020.
