Mitigation and adaptation measures in response to climate change on European fisheries

The MECCAM project aims to develop mitigation and adaptation measures in response to climate change for fisheries companies, authorities and other stakeholders in seafood value chains in Europe.

MeCCAM will use a multi-faceted approach to develop and implement relevant and viable solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prepare the fisheries sector for the impacts of climate change. These solutions will then be assessed based on their social, environmental and economic impacts.

The solutions will be developed and implemented in six sea areas: the NE Atlantic, Iceland, the North Sea, the Bay of Biscay, off the coast of Cyprus and Greece. The partners are from a wide range of backgrounds, including industry, government, NGOs, universities and other scientific institutions.
