The Icelandic database on the chemical content of foods (ÍSGEM) stores information on the chemical content of foods that are on the Icelandic market.
By clicking Search in ÍSGEM, you can write the name of a food type and get a list of the nutrients that are available for the food type.
- Available information on 40 substances in about 1100 food types is published. Among the substances are proteins, fats, carbohydrates, sugars, fiber, water, vitamins, minerals and trace minerals.
- There is one tablet for each food type.
- All tablets show contents in 100 grams of edible parts.
- Values in the ÍSGEM database describe the composition of the samples that were chemically analyzed. If the composition was evaluated by calculation, the results only apply to the relevant recipe and assumptions. The chemical content of most foods varies and therefore values in ÍSGEM may not apply to all samples of the food in question.
By clicking on Nutrition tables, you can select simple tables where each type of food is in one line. It is recommended that people familiarize themselves with more detailed instructions by clicking on: ÍSGEM explanations.
