Græntól will deliver a harmonised, user-friendly environmental recording system for Icelandic food production (starting with agriculture). The project integrates existing data systems and establishes the basis for environmental accounts and a calculator so producers, authorities and stakeholders can track inputs, GHG emissions and impacts—down to product level and process stage.
Objectives
- Integrate and streamline data capture across the value chain.
- Build a calculator and dashboard with near-real-time operational insight
- Ensure alignment with international standards (e.g., LCA/ISO, PEF) and upcoming reporting requirements.
- Lay an ESG foundation for future expansion (environment, social, economic).
Methods & scope
- Map current systems (e.g., Jörð.is, Huppa, Fjárvís) and data flows; propose integration pathways.
- Benchmark against leading European solutions (incl. SEGES) to ensure international comparability.
- Develop the user interface and calculator; compute at product level; enable year-on-year comparisons; comply with standards/regulations.
