The aim of the project was to study the social aspects of the fisheries sector and to educate ten doctoral students in that field.
Fisheries management, fisheries, innovation and rural development were among the issues that were particularly focused on, as social and economic impacts play a large part in decision-making within those sectors.
The most important result of the project was the graduation of 10 doctors, who, among other things, spent a long time in Iceland and got to know the Icelandic fishing industry. Two of these doctors graduated from HI and the doctoral projects of the other two dealt with the Icelandic fishing industry.
