The international WEFTA conference will be held in Reykjavík from 12–16 October 2026.
WEFTA is an international collaborative network in the blue bioeconomy, with a focus on fisheries, aquaculture, food science and processing technology. Matís, and previously the Icelandic Fisheries Laboratories (IFL), has been an active participant in WEFTA since around 1970.
The conference brings together researchers, students and industry representatives, and has for decades served as an important platform for knowledge sharing and the development of Nordic and European collaboration.
The conference runs from 12–16 October. Registration takes place on 12 October, and the main conference programme, featuring lectures and workshops, will be held on 13–15 October. The programme concludes on 16 October with an excursion in the vicinity of Reykjavík.
