Development assistance
For the past 15 years, Matis has been a partner of the School of Fisheries (GRÓ-FTP, formerly UNU-FTP) and manages its quality management line. Every year, about 5 to 7 students from various developing countries come to study at Matís to increase their knowledge of managing the quality of fish products during handling and processing. There, students receive instruction from the most competent experts in the field. Matís has also held many shorter courses in developing countries, such as Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam and Sri Lanka.
Matís has entered into an agreement with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs' Development Cooperation Office on technical advice in the ministry's development projects and has provided technical assistance in various projects under its auspices in developing countries, including Kenya, Sierra Leone and Liberia. In addition, Matís has worked on independent projects in developing countries.
