Nutritional tablets - Nutritional value of food
- The nutrition tables (5th edition) are from 2003. A new edition will be available in 2025.
- The nutritional value shown in the tables rests on a solid foundation and this is especially true for unprocessed foods. However, it must be borne in mind that the chemical composition of food changes for a variety of reasons, such as the effects of feed, environmental factors, meat cutting methods and changed recipes of processed foods.
- The users of the information must always weigh and assess whether it applies to the food in question. Food marketers are always responsible for ensuring that the information on food packaging is correct.
- Matís does not guarantee the reliability of the data or its use in other forums.

The nutrient tables contain information on the nutritional value of common foods. Values are given for energy, energy content, and some vitamins and minerals. The data is from The Icelandic Food Composition Database (ISGEM), and Matís is responsible for its operation in collaboration with the Icelandic Food Council (Public Health Institute).
The nutrient tablets are divided into food categories. Within each category, foods are arranged in alphabetical order. You can select a food category by clicking on one of the tabs below. If you are not sure which food category to choose, you can search the list of all foods. There, foods are arranged in alphabetical order and shown in which tables to look for.
Note that for each food category there are several tablets. First, information about energy, energy substances and other main substances appears, but you need to go to the next page to see the values for some vitamins and minerals in the same foods.
The values in the tables are reference values because the composition of most foods can vary considerably.
