SeaCH4NGE-PLUS will study a selection of Icelandic algae in terms of chemical content and the effect of different processing processes on the ability of selected algae to reduce methane emissions from cows. The algae samples and their products will then be studied abroad for methane emissions in experiments that mimic the digestion of cows. The project could lead to innovation and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture as well as the utilization of underutilized Icelandic resources.
