Pelagic fish
Since its establishment, Matís has been guided by the goal of maximizing the value of all raw materials generated by pelagic fishing in close collaboration with the Icelandic fisheries sector.
Great emphasis has been placed on improving the quality of domestically produced products and maximizing the amount produced for human consumption. A number of projects have been carried out in connection with innovation and product development from previously unused raw materials, changes in processing processes that ensure improved quality, and more recently projects involving the development of genetic methods for searching for pelagic fish in the sea.
